Rear Dormer Loft Conversion

Timeline:

8–10 Weeks

Summary:

The homeowner wanted to transform the unused attic into a functional bedroom and bathroom, increasing the living space within their home..

This project involved upgrading an unused loft space in a home on Teddington, TW11, by converting it into a bright and practical living area. Previously, the attic was only used for storage and had limited headheight and light.
After carrying out a full structural survey and roof assessment, we recommended a rear dormer loft conversion to maximise floor space and create a comfortable new floor.
The rear dormer design allowed us to introduce large windows that bring in natural light and elevate the overall feel of the space.

Client’s Problem
The homeowner wanted to create extra living space to improve the family’s lifestyle but preferred not to move to a larger property.
The key challenges included:

  • No dedicated bedroom for additional occupants
  • Only one bathroom available in the house
  • Underutilised loft space with poor access
  • Lack of natural light and ventilation in the attic

The family wanted a practical solution that would enhance both comfort and property value.

Solution
We designed a layout that opened up the loft and created a stylish and functional new floor.
The project included:

  • A welcoming double bedroom with plenty of natural light
  • A modern bathroom designed to maximise space
  • Large rear dormer windows for enhanced daylight
  • Custom storage built into the eaves
  • Improved insulation and ventilation for year-round comfort

The completed loft conversion provided valuable additional living space that seamlessly integrates with the rest of the home and enhances its long-term appeal.
